IN 1953 Trumar
k® Mfg., Co, was the first to u
tilise high-quality surgical "continuously dipped" (not ex
truded) latex-tubing as "powerbands" used on slingshot frames made from round aluminum rods. All Trumark slingshots have been powered by surgical tubing since 1953.
See Striation Pictures for further details on dipped as compared to ex
truded bands.
With a very small amount of drug-store rubbing alcohol, the bands can be installed on Trumark slingshots, or any other brand slingshot with round prongs, quickly without the use of tools, strings, or glue. The best way to extend the life of the bands, is to condition them against destructive elements with 303 Aerospace Protectant.
Both left and right bands are cut from one length of tubing so that they are "matched" (balanced) for accurate shooting. CAUTION: Powerbands that are folded and packaged curled up will take on a "set", and will not shoot accurately when they are installed. Trumark surgical-latex powerbands are packaged STRAIGHT in air tight, hermetically sealed blisters that guards against deterioration before installation. If the package is left sealed, the bands will stay fresh, and can be stored for long periods of time. Instructions on how to install the bands are included on the package. 225 Yard + Range!
